Case studies demonstrated at Plastico Brasil:
See how ExxonMobil collaborated with Alpine to create a >95% high oxygen barrier pouch - as an alternative to more difficult to recycle multi-material high oxygen barrier laminates – which can be recycled back into a high-end film application. This enabled flexible film circularity. (*Recyclable in the few communities with programs and facilities in place that collect and recycle plastic film.)
Creating a circular film to film loop: from a recyclable* full PE barrier packaging solution to a high end heavy duty sack > In a breakthrough development, a fully recyclable* mono-material PE pouch has been created that has similar properties to more difficult to recycle laminated pouches. The new pouch utilizes the latest polymers (including Exceed Stiff+ metallocene PE), inks, functional coatings, adhesives and conversion technology.
De-inkable, recyclable* mono-material polyethylene-pouch with barrier properties > See how ExxonMobil collaborated with Alpine to create a >95% PE high oxygen barrier pouch - as an alternative to more difficult to recycle multimaterial high oxygen barrier laminates – with unique aesthetics thanks to digital printing. * Recyclable in communities with programs and facilities in place that collect and recycle plastic film.
Creating recyclable* 97% PE barrier pouch packaging with high oxygen barrier, unique optics and outstanding package integrity > Creation of a 95 wt% PE thermoformed package, consisting of a formed PE/EVOH bottom web and PE/EVOH lid film - with both high oxygen barrier and outstanding package integrity through optimized corner thickness and puncture.
Case study: Full PE thermoformed packaging that can offer recyclability** and uncompromising package functionality and optics >
See how ExxonMobil collaborated with Alpine to produce a recyclable* , thermoformed package with very high PE content without compromising on functionality or optics. (* Recyclable in communities with programs and facilities in place that collect and recycle plastic film.)
Case study: Full PE thermoformed packaging with improved recyclability* and uncompromising package functionality > A thorough collaboration throughout the full value chain has led to the development of two monomaterial PE film solutions. By leveraging just three PE grades, it is possible to reduce the film thickness and/or incorporate up to 35% recycled content while still meeting performance and processability requirements.
Case study: Creating ultra-thin hygiene compression packaging films with sustainability benefits that deliver excellent performance > Valgroup, one of the world’s largest packaging producers, and ExxonMobil, a leading global supplier of resins, are now working collaboratively with one of the largest global beverage producers on the journey to help address the challenge of plastic waste. By purchasing verified-cirular polymers from ExxonMobil, Valgroup is the first company in leveraging Exxtend™ technology in South America, unlocking new opportunities towards a more circular economy for plastics.
Case Study: Valgroup continues its plastic circularity journey with certified-circular polymers from ExxonMobil leveraging Exxtend™ technology for advanced recycling > Videplast, a leader in Brazil’s packaging sector, identified a growing demand for ergonomic packaging solutions. This need arose from the increasing awareness of worker health and safety, as companies sought to reduce physical strain during the manual application of stretch films. Recognizing this market gap, Videplast initiated a collaboration with ExxonMobil Signature Polymers to design an economical solution that meets these requirements.
Case study: Videplast creates thin, high tenacity stretch film at superior production output with ExxonMobil Signature Polymers > Discover how ExxonMobil Exceed™ and Enable™ performance polyethylene in masterbatch solutions can help improve the mechanical properties of final products such as molded products, pipes and fittings, and HFFR wire jacketing.
Factsheet: Exceed™ Flow and Exceed™ Tough metallocene polyethylene in masterbatch solutions > FilmAmerica, a leading converter of agricultural films based in Chile, wanted to develop thinner greenhouse films with similar or better mechanical and optical properties than the market reference films. FilmAmerica and ExxonMobil collaborated to develop a new greenhouse film formulation that delivered films with excellent mechanical performance while using less material to meet the needs of customers/farmers.
Case study: FilmAmerica greenhouse films > Silage stretch films protect bale in the field, help to keep nutritious content of fodder, offer farmers opportunities to increase milk/meat quantity and quality. The toughness performance provided by Exceed™ m 3516.PA metallocene polyethylene prevented damage in the field and during handling maintaining integrity of bale wrap.
Case study: Videplast creates cast silage stretch film with ExxonMobil Signature Polymers > Exceed™ m 3518 metallocene polyethylene helped Afriq Water to increase the output and improve the mechanical properties on the tubes. Mechanical enhancements observed, include increased pressure resistance of up to 30% and increased ultimate stretch performance.
Case study: Afriq Water creates sturdy drip irrigation pipes while increasing production output and improving pressure resistance > Exceed Tough+ performance polymers allowed Benepak to create a new benchmark for higher performance films that require extreme performance. These high-integrity silage films with high MD tear strength and toughness reduce the risk of waste and spoilage. The extreme performance of Exceed Tough+ maintains silage film integrity, helping prevent damage in the field and during handling.
Case study: Exceed™ Tough+ performance PE polymers help Benepak reach a new benchmark for higher performance films >
